Assertiveness Techniques
Assertiveness techniques are skills that you can use when you need for someone to "take you seriously" and to "get your point across."
"I" Messages
"I" messages let someone know how their behavior is affecting you and what you want or need to happen instead. There are three parts to an "I" message:
I feel (state your feeling) when (state their behavior). I would prefer (state what you need).
Example: I feel used when you copy my homework. I would prefer that you do your own homework and ask me for help when you get stuck on a problem.
