Assertiveness Techniques
Assertiveness techniques are skills that you can use when you need for someone to "take you seriously" and to "get your point across."
Escaping from a situation that is getting out of control
This technique is used when the other person begins to get nasty, ridicules you, becomes sarcastic, insults you, curses you, or has other aggressive behavior towards you.
Example:
You can exit from a conversation quickly by saying:
"Let's talk another time when you've calmed down"
or
"I don't allow anyone to speak to me that way."
Then turn and walk away or hang up the phone.
